Alright folks. So as you undoubtedly know we are in a bit of a pickle. We are the second strongest alliance in our state, and the strongest is looking for a fight. They are strong, experienced, and eager. We can not possibly win an offensively minded war right now. But we can survive playing a defensive game. I know that does not sound exciting, but until many of you have gained enough experience to wield armies effectively, defense is what we need to be thinking.
First and foremost, is the number of cities. Conquering cities is only possible if you have MORE than one. Your last city can not be conquered. I am not telling you to abandon your other cities, I am merely suggesting that with two or more cities you will need to do twice as much work to ensure you do not lose cities. Another advantage to this is with only one city your prestige moves MUCH faster.
Whatever you decide from there the next line of defense is scouts. If you have more scouts than the person scouting you, they will not know what you have in your city. As far as Outlawz is concerned a lot is greater than 1k. That is how many I have in my city and I was scouted successfully by 2 members.
If scouts fail the next line of defense is your walls. Your walls are imperative in defeating the enemies. In case you do not know, while in the "town" screen you can click on your walls and add defenses. Of these defenses the most important is Archer Towers (AT). As I have stated before an AT is worth approximately 3 archers. If you build one thousand AT then an opposing force needs 3000 archers just to get to your actual forces, 2000 AT needs 6000 archers, and so forth. From there traps are good to have 1 trap will take out 1 infantry force (warrior, swordman, pikeman) They aren't very efficient but they slow down attackers one round and allow the archers to hit the enemy infantry. Abatis are third most important. They will take out cavalry and cataphract. At this point in the game not many people will attack with those, but they are nice to have, just in case.
Next comes your actual forces. I have one word for you. ARCHERS. I do not care what you heard. Archers are the most important troops. At this point in the game having more archers than the other person means you win. Right now I have a fairly comfortable force of 6000 archers. Say you took my advice and have yourself 1.5k (1500) archer towers. That means that to successfully take out my entire army you only need about 2k archers. If you were to have a force similar to mine, then I would need nearly 11k archers to succesfully attack you. So you see, the more archers and archer towers you have in your city the harder it is to attack. Other troops are helpful too, but I personally only use archers and warriors. Warriors are easy to produce and it does not matter if they die. If you mass produce warriors they are fairly managable to feed and they will swarm and kill other infantry.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, You need to upgrade your resource fields! You can not build forces, defenses, or buildings without them. At this point you should be producing at least 40-50k per resource per hour. If you aren't, get going! I will tell you I personally I do not build farms. I find that if you build more sawmills and ironmines then you can sell some to buy food. i.e. If you make it so lumber is producing 100k per hour, then in one day you will produce 2.4 million lumber. if you sell half at .22 (the going rate) thats 264000 gold. You then save 64000 for researching in the academy. With that left over 200k gold you buy food at the going rate (.086), which comes out to 2,300,000 food. In contrast, if you were to build half as many lumber fields and have a production of 50,000 lumber and 50,000 food per hour, you would only have 1.2million of each. But each upgrade in the academy and each valley you conquer adds to the basic total production, so more of one resource field means more production per hour.
Ok sorry for the long segment. If yo have any questions, post them here or mail me on evony.

Welcome
Hey Lykaoners,
I was getting sick of putting how-to guides in 5 piece mails so I decided to make this. This is going to be very basic (I am definitely not technologically advanced). And for now it is going to be aimed at helping the inexperienced members of our alliance. Thanks for coming and if you have anything else to add, comment!
